TUCSON, Ariz.–September 27, 2011–Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (The “Company”) (OTCBB: LBSR) is pleased to announce it has received the completed Hay Mountain/Tombstone NI 43 101 style technical report (The “Report”) from SRK Consulting (“SRK”). The 156-page document covers the Company’s claim area in Cochise County, Ariz., comprising a portion of the Company’s Tombstone Porphyry-Precious Metals Project (TPPMP).
The Hay Mountain claim block is approximately 8 square miles consisting of standard unpatented Federal Lode mining claims and Arizona State Prospecting Permits (leases), which cover an interpreted buried porphyry copper-gold system discovered by CEO and Chief Geologist James Briscoe (see NR 104, August 3, 2011, and NR 109, September 20, 2011). The Company received the Report on September 22nd,signed by SRK Registered Geologists and Qualified Persons, Dr. Jan Rasmussen and Corolla Hoag, both experienced in porphyry copper exploration.
Dr. Jan Rasmussen (PhD in Geosciences, 1993, University of Arizona, Tucson) has experience in the area, submitting her master’s thesis on part of the Tombstone Hills near Liberty Star’s TPPMP. She and SRK Principal Geologist, Corolla Hoag, also a University of Arizona graduate, thoroughly researched the geological literature about the Tombstone Mining District. Together they surveyed 161 articles spanning a period of 119 years. Many of these reference materials came from Liberty Star’s CEO and Chief Geologist, Jim Briscoe’s extensive collection, which he gathered during his 40 years of work on the district. Among the collection are unique and exclusively held materials including confidential reports, high-resolution color air photos, geophysics, geochemistry and geologic maps. SRK’s Rasmussen and Hoag also worked in the Tombstone area with Briscoe examining key outcrops, reviewing data and discussing Briscoe’s conclusions reached as a result of his extensive field studies.
The completed Report is probably the most thoroughly researched and comprehensive technical report produced on the area, encompassing the entire greater Tombstone district covering about 300 square miles.
Abbreviated Summary: The exploration concept pursued by Liberty Star at Hay Mountain focuses on the potential for a porphyry copper deposit under basin fill soil cover. Abbreviated Recommendations: 1. Conduct biogeochemical and soil surveys to be analyzed for 64 different elements. 2. Conduct ZTEM helicopter borne geophysical surveying. 3. Data reduction and analysis should be done by computer techniques. 4. Conduct vertical diamond core drilling into bedrock. 5. Drill 10 core holes with drill logging in digital format. 6. Core splitting using a diamond saw, sampling including standard QA/QC procedures through Certified assay labs and retaining the half core sample for a permanent record.
Due to the comprehensive and sensitive nature of the Report and in order to protect the Company and its shareholders, only the summary and conclusions will be available for the present.
Comments Liberty Star’s Chief Geologist and CEO James Briscoe: “It has taken many years of technical work to put together the database that permits the visualization of this porphyry copper deposit target. Many months have been involved in the preparation of this technical report presented by SRK. It confirms in detail the importance of the Tombstone Caldera and the very subtle indicators of the Hay Mountain prospect. It will be a guide as we explore this target. Hay Mountain and Tombstone, Arizona, should be another prosperous zone comparable to other nearby zones hosting porphyry copper gold, moly mines in the southeastern Arizona area, particularly Morenci, Bisbee, Twin Buttes, Mission-Pima and Silver Bell.”

Forward-looking statements in this news release include: that a buried porphyry copper-gold system is interpreted to be on the Hay Mountain property; that we will be able to carry out the recommended exploration; and that Hay Mountain and Tombstone should be a prosperous mining zone comparable to other nearby porphyry copper gold, moly zones around mines in the southeastern Arizona area.
Factors which may delay or prevent these forward-looking statements from being realized include misinterpretation of data; we may not locate or agree to terms with potential partners for their incurring of exploration costs, we may not be able to get equipment or labor as we need it; we may not be able to raise sufficient funds to complete our intended exploration or carry on operations; that weather, logistical problems or hazards may prevent us from exploration; that equipment may not work as well as expected; that analysis of data may not be possible accurately and at depth; and that despite encouraging data there may be no commercially exploitable mineralization on our properties.
