Liberty Star Provides Geochem Update, 2012 Hay Mountain, Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (“Liberty Star” or the “Company”) (LBSR: OTCBB) is pleased to provide an update of progress for exploration activity, specifically the geochemical program, on its Hay Mountain claims targeting copper, molybdenum (moly), gold and other metals. The nearly 1,800 geochemical samples collected over the Hay Mountain claims (NR 114) were sent to the ALS Minerals (ALS-Chemex) certified geochemical analysis lab in Vancouver, British Columbia. ALS is currently producing a stream of assay results which are being sent to Liberty Star’s Tucson office.

When all of the assays are received, the Liberty Star geology team, headed by Jim Briscoe, the Company’s Chief Geologist and CEO, will be able to generate computer analyses that will allow interpretation of the data and identify anomalous samples and patterns. The geochemical information will indicate metal zoning patterns.

The Company plans to carry out ZTEM geophysics later this Spring. As stated in Liberty Star’s outline of exploration activity at Hay Mountain (NR 119), ZTEM will yield electromagnetic measurement to a depth of about 6,000 feet and will give detailed shape information of any mineralized bodies and their depth. As an added benefit, the ZTEM system produces detailed magnetic information. This is additive and will more closely define the details of the existing magnetic anomaly, which corresponds to geology, alteration, peripheral precious metal veins in exposed rock and previous geochemistry.

A precisely targeted exploratory drilling plan will be the outcome of the combined geoscientific exploration procedures described above. This drill plan will be accomplished after permitting and obtaining a drill contract.

Safe Harbor Statement

Statements in this news release that are not historical are forward looking statements. Forward-looking statements in this news release include: that the results from the soil geochemical sampling analysis can be expected in three to six weeks; that we will be able to generate computer analyses that will allow interpretation of the data and identify anomalous samples and patterns; that we will undertake a ZTEM survey, that it will provide shape and magnetic information; and that a precise drilling program will be the result of the exploration.

Factors which may delay or prevent these forward-looking statements from being realized include: the failure of our exploration program to identify targets; we may not be able to raise sufficient funds to complete our intended exploration or carry on operations; and an inability to continue exploration due to weather, logistical problems, labor or equipment problems or hazards even if funds are available. Readers should refer to the risk disclosures in the Company’s recent 10-K and the Company’s other periodic reports filed from time to time with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
